Kingston Demonstrates Momentum: Surprises Diehl in Home Turf Straw Poll
For Immediate Release:
Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Kingston virtually tied his GOP rival Geoff Diehl in a straw poll held by the Plymouth County Republican Club Thursday. Kingston received 79 votes. Diehl, who lives in Plymouth County and represents several Plymouth County communities on Beacon Hill, recieved 83 votes. Beth Lindstrom, the third GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, received just three total votes.
“Our campaign has demonstrated we are capable of contesting every single community in the state,” said Kingston campaign manager Cathy Fair.
“It is a remarkable outcome for John, a political outsider, to essentially tie an opponent on his home turf where he has been an elected official since 2011,” Fair continued. “Republican voters statewide are increasingly rallying behind John’s campaign because they recognize he is the only candidate with the message, manpower and movement to defeat Sen. Warren this November, bring fundamental change to Washington and fight for them.”
The Plymouth County Republican Club 2018 straw poll was held Thursday evening at the Middleborough VFW.
