Kingston Criticizes Warren’s Knee-Jerk Judicial Obstructionism
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Kingston criticized Sen. Elizabeth Warren Tuesday for immediately opposing President Trump’s newly announced nominee to the Supreme Court.
“Sen. Warren’s knee-jerk obstructionist approach is designed exclusively to boost her 2020 campaign for president and does nothing to serve the interests of Massachusetts,” Kingston said. “Rather than take a measured, thoughtful approach to the consideration of a nominee for the highest court in the land, Sen. Warren was eager to launch divisive partisan attacks before Judge Kavanaugh’s acceptance speech was even finished.”
“Sen. Warren has herself argued that opposition to judicial nominees for anything other than their qualifications undermines ‘the integrity of our courts,'” Kingston continued. “Yet when there are political points to be scored with a radical, obstructionist base Warren shows no hesitation jettisoning the heavy responsibility of honestly vetting judicial nominees.”
“A U.S. Senator should take the time to thoughtfully research the credentials of and decisions made by judicial nominees and take advantage of an opportunity to meet with them before taking a final position on their confirmation,” Kingston continued. “That is the kind of seriousness and practicality Massachusetts demands of its elected leaders and the kind so glaringly absent from Sen. Warren.”
